NZPA-AAP Sydney The Australian sharemarket was slightly easier by the close of floor trading yesterday as sellers wiped off recent gains in the industrial sector. By 3.15 p.m. the all ordinaries index was down 3.5 points at 1472.6. Brokers said the early positive market sentiment faded as soon as Ranks Hovis McDougall achieved its 14.9 per cent stake in its target, Goodman Fielder Wattie. “Once Ranks reached its target, Goodman stock came off its recent highs, bringing other industrials with it,” said one.
