New slot for netball

Netball moves to prime time later this month with the decision by TVNZ to screen full, live coverage of the three-match test series between New Zealand, the current world champions, and Australia, which holds third spot in the international rankings.

Coverage of this test series promises to outclass any seen in the past, with cameras moving from courtside to a position behind the goals. TVNZ will also have its new remote camera placed on the hoop to enable a wide-angle perspective of action down through the net. Another innovation

will be the radio microphones carried by the umpires to allow viewers to hear all the calls. Test coverage, which begins at 8 p.m. on One on each of the three days of play, will be presented by news staffer Cathy Campbell with commentary coming from Pat McElvey and Yvonne

Willering. The Kiwi netballers take to the court at Auckland’s Chase Stadium for the first test on Wednesday, April 26. Palmerston North’s Pascal Sports Stadium is venue for the second clash on Saturday, April 29, and Christchurch hosts the final test at Cowles Stadium on Wednesday, May 3.
