Situations Vacant Situations Vacant POSITION OF SECRETARY TO THE QUOTA APPEAL AUTHORITY FISH 16 MAFFish, the fisheries business of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, seeks a new secretary for the Fisheries Quota Appeal Authority. This Authority is a semi-judicial body that hears appeals from commercial fishermen concerning their allocations ’ of individual transferable quota. The Authority is an ; independent body which is serviced by MAFFish. The Secretary’s role is to arrange the business of the Authority, to arrange and organise hearings which are held throughout the country, to handle inquiries and correspondence from appellants and in many cases their solicitors and generally to ensure that the Authority’s business is carried out in . an effective and timely fashion. The Authority has a very busy schedule of hearings for the remainder of this year at least, and there is a need to appoint as soon as possible a Secretary to replace the person currently in the job. Experience in an executive role with a statutory board, or tribunal would be helpful although full training will be given. The salary for the position will be dependant on qualifications and experience up to $33,564. The appointee to the position will be required to be self-motivated, to display enthusiasm and an . ability to work under pressure and have good written and oral communication skills. This is a challenging position in an interesting area, and will be based at the MAFFish complex at Greta Point in Wellington.
