Haul thrown at police
PA Auckland Burglars who stole 21 outboard motors and other boating equipment threw some of their haul on to Auckland streets in a bid to shake off pursuing police cars on Monday. The patrol cars managed to avoid the assortment of outboard motors, life-jackets and petrol tanks hurled at them from the burglars’ van. The three offenders eventually abandoned the van in Remuera and ran off. One was later caught. The chase began when a police patrol spotted the burglars leaving the Outboard Shop in Stanley Street, Parnell, at 5 a.m. Twenty-one outboard motors and other boating accessories valued at $36,500 were recovered.
