French to share Anzac Day
NZPA London French-New Zealand relations will be given a boost by a good Kiwi Anzac Day party in London. Mr Don Hewitson, the New Zealander who transformed a number of dreary London wine bars in the 19705, has struck upon an idea which he hopes will “let bygones be bygones” between New Zealand and France. He has chosen Anzac Day as the date for. a party in one of his trendy wine bars, and has invited a top French chef, Jacques Rongeat, to match his culinary expertise with good New Zealand wines. Although the exact menu has yet to be worked out, there is no doubt about the dessert — pavlova, of course. The cost of the threecourse dinner, Mumms Champagne, Montana Sauvignon Blanc and superb Cru Beaujolais 1988 from Domaine du Chapitre, is £25 ($67.71) each.
