Police seize ‘Fair Go’ evidence
PA Auckland The police last evening executed a search warrant at the Auckland news centre of TVNZ, seizing evidence "Fair Go” journalists had gathered on two house painters. The “Fair Go” producer, Chris Harrington, said the police had raided the programme’s office at 5 p.m. and took a list naming 36 people who had either complained about two painters or knew of the pair. The seizing follows a two-programme investigation by the "Fair Go" team into the painters, who have been travelling the country, allegedly overcharging for house and roof painting. Mr Harrington said police had requested the list from “Fair Go," but to maintain the public’s confidence in the programme’s impartiality he decided they should go through official channels to obtain the information. "We refused to give the list of people involved in our-r- investigation." -he said’
