PA New Plymouth Justa Kiss ran out a comfortable winner of the opening steeplechase of the jumping season in the Central Districts yesterday. The Woodville seven-year-old took out the Elders Pastoral Waverley Steeplechase at the Waverley Racing Club’s meeting by six lengths from the outsider. Count Your Silver, with the topweight. Crown Star, third. Justa Kiss, ridden by John Gifford, raced handy to the leaders and made his move 800 metres from home. He quickly mastered the pacemaker, Casscity, and was never in danger of defeat. Count Your Silver ran on well from the back and Crown Star, which was within striking distance of the leaders for most of the journey, battled away well
