Indoor bowls charity
Top indoor bowlers from throughout Canterbury will be competing in the Association’s Charity Fours tournament at Kearneys ' Road on Sunday. All proceeds will go to the Cot Death Society’s Appeal. To boost takings, the association is running a plate event in the afternoon for non-qualifiers,
Dean Hunt and Peter Kerr are expected to continue their recent good form, and are right on target to make strong claims for selection to the A.S. Paterson team, particularly with the absence this year of Graham Stronach and Ricky Fraser. Alf Williamson and Lloyd Bellis have probably done enough to
secure their positions, but the Canterbury selectors will be hoping for some winning form soon from Leon McLennan, Gary Lawson, Andrews Curtain, and Trevor Thompson. The selectors must also be worried about the lack of form shown by several other members of its highly controversial squad of 32.
