Company expands
In recent months staff and consultants of the McVicar Timber Group have been busy on a major refit of the former Liquormart building at 319 Cranford Street. The fruits of their labours, a large and comprehensive new retail outlet for McVicar’s, will be available for use by the public from this Sunday onward. According to the advertising manager for the group, Jane Clark, the new development at Cranford Street is the first step in the establishment of a major new retail division for the company. In addition to the traditional staple of company activity, timber, the company now sells a complete range of hardware, wall-
board, paint, gardening supplies, fittings, etcetera. These products are all purchased direct from the manufacturers which enables the company to sell as competitively as any similar company can. The McVicar Timber Group has always been involved in a small amount of retail trading at their six branches but have recently decided to build on the reservoir of goodwill accumulated over the years, and expand. “The new outlet will be your classic one-stop-shop,” Jane Clark said.
