Prendergast clean sweep at trials

Royal Fling, one of the best-bred younger prospects in Canterbury helped to give the Prendergast stable a clean sweep of the heats for inexperienced horses at the Riccarton Turf Club trials at Riccarton yesterday.

Royal Fling, by Three Legs from the fine racemare, Queen’s Pal, won her 600 m heat nicely for Jan Cameron in 36 seconds, slightly faster than her stablemate, a Solaboy colt from the good racemare Quay Princess, took to win the first heat.

Royal Fling, a striking grey filly, has been brought along patiently by the Prendergast stable but could make her race debut at Riccarton next month in the Stoneyhurst Handicap.

Godsin was an impressive trialist winning her 1200 m heat very easily for Grant Davison beating Kaoru Heights, which is ready for another campaign after being based in Queensland for some time. Godsin is likely to make her debut for the stable of Roydon Bergerson at Wingatui on Anzac Day.
