Forewarned?

Sir, —Recently on the television news we were informed that Winston Churchill possibly knew of the proposed Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Britain did smash the Japanese code but, as America was not at that time at war with Japan, she was not interested. Now, Mrs Thatcher, owing to American persuasion, has stopped the publication of the most truthful writings of the war and some years afterwards, those of Winston Churchill. The truth is that at the very time of the Japanese attack on Peari Harbour the Japanese ambassadors were sitting round the table in Washington signing peace treaties with America. Let us not forget that at that time Britain and the Commonwealth were fighting for their very existence, not for money. No country in the world could have had a better leader and the truth should be told, not half-truths. — Yours, etc., WILLIAM FLECKNOE. March 28, 1989.
