THE PRESS *n<p J, ffyj*'? SCHOLARSHIP WINNING ENTRANT will receive all flying instruction necessary to obtain a private pilot’s licence. (Approximate value $5000.) RUNNER-UP will receive all flying instruction necessary to reach first solo flight standard including first solo flight. (Approximate value $1500.) FINALISTS will receive all necessary ground school instruction to pass Civil Aviation Private Pilot exams. (Value $80.) ALL ENTRANTS will receive Honorary membership of the Canterbury Aero Club until March 31, 1990. ALL ENTRANTS will receive an adventure into the world of Aviation including both ground instruction and approximately 20 minutes "hands on” flying experience. RULES OF ENTRY 1. The Scholarships are open to all men and women living in “The Press” circulation area who are 16 years and over. 2. The closing date for “The Press Flying Scholarship" entries Is 5 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 1989, at the Canterbury Aero Club Inc., P.O. Box 14-006, Christchurch Airport. Entries must be made on the official entry form clipped from a copy of "The Press" and must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee (see 3 below). 3. The entrance fee is $45 Including GST If the entrant i can be available during a work day, or $5O Including GST where the entrant can only be available on Saturday or Sunday. 4. Entrants will be advised of the date and time of their Instruction and flight, through the columns of "The Press” as well as by letter and or telephone. 5. All entrants will be required to report at the Canterbury Aero Club clubrooms at Christchurch Airport at the agreed time for transit to the Canterbury Aero Club’s own airfield at West Melton. Entrants should allow a minimum of 3 hours. Entrants will be returned to Christchurch Airport after the completion of their "Aviation Experience." 6. The winner of the major award will be entitled to free flying training Including Airways and Airport landing j charges and ground school fees to the standard > required to obtain a restricted Private Pilot licence. (Approximate value $5000.00) The winner of the runner up award will be, entitled to free flying training Including Airways and Airport landing charges to a I star lard to complete a first solo flight. The training of winners will be undertaken at Christchurch and must be completed within six months of notification of winning the award. 7. The scholarships will be awarded at the sole judgement of the Canterbury Aero Club, the decision of the club will be final and no claim on the Canterbury Aero Club Inc. or The Press Company Ltd will be recognised. 8. Entries are valid only if the applicant has not received any previous flying instruction. (A sworn declaration to this effect will be required from all finalists.) 9. Members of the Canterbury Aero Club are not eligible to compete. 10. Except for providing the scholarship awards, no responsibility or liability whatsoever shall attach or be deemed to attach to The Christchurch Press Company Ltd or The Canterbury Aero Club Inc. for anything that may occur during the “Aviation experience" or further flights or training that may be provided In the determination of or as the result of a scholarship award. 11.
