AUSTRALIA Golds take market down

NZPA-AAP Sydney The Australian sharemarket was just off the day’s low by the close yesterday, driven down by a sell-off of stocks with gold exposure.

They said investors took little notice of the 357.46 points jump in Tokyo’s Nikkei index to a record 32,663.82. By the close of floor trading the all ordinaries index had sunk 7.4 points to 1479.4. The all industrials index fell 6.6 points to 2432.5, The gold index tumbled 25.2 points, or 1.6 per cent, to 1540.1 on a sharp drop in bullion prices overnight.
