Addington market Quality of prime stock down

The quality of prime stock in most sections of the Addington market yesterday was not as high as in recent weeks. This was particularly noticeable in the lamb and cattle sections where prices eased a little. The few pens of good quality stock available continued to command good prices. Prime Lambs Lamb prices dropped about $2 on Jast week with buyers facing a yarding dominated by light to medium-weight lambs. Few good quality lambs were available and selling was difficult. Most pens made just $l5 to $l6 with few making more than $2O. The yarding totalled 2107, compared with 2484 last week. Values were: Heavy lambs, $lB to $25, with odd sales to $28.60. A large yarding of choppers had a difficult sale with the absence of one retail buyer. Most pigs were $lO to $2O back of last week with few making more than $l5O. Top boars made to $l9O. Store choppers had a slightly better sale with few selling below $BO and most making $BO to $lOO. Values were: Light pork, $9O to $lO5. Medium to heavy pork, $llO to $125. Light to medium bacon, $l3O to $l6O. Heavy bacon, $165 to $lBO, with odd sales to $lBB Light choppers, $l2O to $l5O. Heavy choppers, $l5O to $lBO. Store pigs A good sized yarding continued the firming trend in prices of the last few weeks. Most pigs were $5 to $8 ahead of last week with the best quality large store pigs consistently making more than $7O. The best of the weaners made $4O to $5O. Values were: Small weaners, $2B to $3B. Good weaners, $4O to $5O. Slips and small stores, $55 to $65. Large stores, $7O to $BO.
