Maori fisheries talks
A new committee has been set up to continue talks on Maori fisheries claims. This follows a meeting earlier this week between the parties. The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Palmer, said the committee would have three representatives each from the Crown, the Maori people and the fishing industry. The committee would reach an agreement. The special Parliamentary select committee hearing submissions on the Maori Fisheries Bill is expected to stay in recess until their agreement has been reached.
