Phillips’ goals seal win
Two second-half goals to Gary Phillips steered New Brighton to a 2-0 win against Technical in the Linwood City Pharmacy Hurley Shield soccer competition at English Park last evening. Both teams had a number of scoring chances in the match but it was Phillips’ finishing which made the difference between the two sides. Shamrock held Rangers to a scoreless draw in a flowing second match. Rangers was expected to win but squandered a number of scoring opportunities. It had the constoiation to see one shot whipped off the goal-line in the second half.
