Cup start confirmed
NZPA-Reuter London Desert Orchid, the 5 to 2 favourite, will definitely run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 16, said trainer, David Elsworth. The news, announced at Newbury races, will cheer the many fans who have made the grey Britain’s most popular racehorse for many years. Desert Orchid’s owner, Richard Burridge, has always had reservations about running his horse in the Gold Cup, a supreme test for a jumper, because the race can take so much out of an animal.
