18 wickets tumble
The cricket match between New Zealand Combined Services and Christchurch Suburban at Edgar Mclntosh Park ended in a draw after 18 wickets tumbled on the shortened final day yesterday. Services declared at its overnight total of 141/9 wickets, 14 runs behind, after morning rain prevented a start until 2 p.m. Suburban did not cope well with the left arm sprinners of the rival captain, Richard Wixon, but Services also floundered, losing 8/89 in the chase for 127 runs.
Suburban, 155 and 112 (M. Emerson 40, A. Hargreaves 20; R. Wixon 6/38, R. Kneebone 3/30) drew with Combined Services, 141/9 dec. and 89/8 (Wixon 35, L. Williams 21; M. Taylor 2/13).
