Three titles to Chch kayaker
The promising Christchurch kayak competitor, Richard Boyle, won three open titles and narrowly missed a fourth in the South Island flat water canoeing sprint championships on the Avon on Saturday and Sunday.
Boyle had an encouraging warm-up for the national flat water events at Lake Pupuke, near Auckland, this weekend. He won the two open singles races by big margins, and added the K2 final over
500 m to his tally. But he and his partner, Geoff Barry, were shaded by 0.02 s in the K2 1000 m final, conceding honours to Lars Humer and John Creighton. Results:—
