Fletcher Fishing Seattle move
The chief executive of Fletcher Fishing New Zealand, Mr Jeff Jackson, has announced the establishment of a new wholly owned subsidiary company, Fletcher Seafoods Limited U.S.A., based in Seattle.
Mr Ron Marion, above left, has been appointed president of the new company. Mr Marion was formerly director of procurement planning and contracting with Gordon Food Service Inc, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is one of the top 50 food service distributors in the U.S.A.
Mr Marion will be responsible for establishing Fletcher Seafoods in the U.S. and shaping the company’s marketing strategy for North America. The United States is Fletcher Fishing’s largest market after Japan and is one of the most rapidly growing seafoods markets in the world. Fletcher Fishing is now planning to expand its marketing activities in Europe and has appointed Mr Charles Barkla, above right, to head up this development in Europe. Mr Barkla (who is based in Thonon-Les-Bain, France) was formerly with the New Zealand Kiwifruit Authority in Europe where he was responsible for the promotion, quality and political access of kiwifruit to the European market. Mr Barkla is fluent in several European languages and has export marketing experience in Europe, Australia, the Pacific Basin and New Zealand.
