Cruise to raise money
The Lyttelton St John Ambulance held a launch cruise on Lyttelton Harbour on Friday evening to interest local groups in raising funds for a cardiac defibrillator. The senior station officer at Lyttelton, Mr Pete Dawson, said yesterday the defibrillator would cost between $15,000 and $20,000. About 40 groups from Lyttelton were invited on the trip to watch a presentation by ambulance officers to explain why the equipment was needed. At the end of the cruise, the Lyttelton Borough Council gave $llOO and Mobil Oil gave $lOOO towards the defibrillator, said Mr Dawson.
