Kate’s Myth trainer considers Sydney
PA Wellington The Woodville trainer, Murray Baker, is contemplating a Sydney campaign with his crack filly, Kate’s Myth. On Wednesday Kate’s Myth dealt handsomely with Straight Order in the $15,000 Galaxy Farms Three-Year-Old (1600), winning by two lengths. Their superiority over the rest of the field was reflected by the eightlength margin back to third-placed Hunting The Ivory.
It was assumed that Kate’s Myth was being aimed for the $200,000
Lindauer Stakes at Ellerslie tomorrow week, but Baker said the filly may miss that in preference for the sAust2so,ooo Orlando Wines Classic (1500 m at Rosehill on the same day. “The distance is just right for her,” Baker said. “She is at her best at either 1500 or 1600 metres.”
If she does go to Australia, Kate’s Myth will also tackle the sAustl 50,000 Storm Queen Stakes (2000 m at Rosehill on March 18 and finally the sAust3so,ooo AJC Oaks (2400 m at Randwick on March
29. It would be a bit of a wrench to miss the Lindauer, Baker said, but he was looking to get the best possible results for the filly. Kate’s Myth was ridden by Noel Harris on Wednesday and while he would ride the filly at Ellerslie, he is no certainty for Rosehill on March 4, that date clashing with Auckland’s million-dollar day. Kate’s Myth, from 15 starts, has now won nine times and recorded two seconds and four thirds. She has won just on $326,000 in stakes.
