A lesson in duplicity

In the second episode of “The London i Embassy,” screening toiight at 8 on One, the young American diplomat, Spenser Savage, comes

face-to-face with the duplicity not only of the Russians, but also of his own Government. Events start rolling along gently enough when an American author arrives in Britain to take part in the London Poetry Week — but move into a higher gear with the arrival of a Russian novelist. And, when Savage’s friend, the embassy’s cultural officer, Vic Scaduto, discovers that his American author has to share both a platform and a TV interview with the Russian, events start tumbling over each other at the speed of compound acceleration. Scaduto and Savage find themselves caught up in events arising out of the activities of the Secret Service lads on the third floor.
