CRICKET The Canterbury representative cricket team to play a Buller invitation XI at Westport on Sunday is:— Paul McEwan, Ben Harris, Jon Preston, Blair Hartland, David Boyle, Peter Kennedy, > Paul Winter, Andrew Nuttall, Mark Robinson, Stu Roberts, Mark Chamberlain, Roger Ford. Sandshoes only to be worn. Accommodation at Black and White Hotel. Advt. The Merivale-Papanui Cricket Club held its annual six-a-side tournament at Edgar Mclntosh Park on Sunday. Eight Suburban teams entered, each facing a maximum of five overs, and with five players each bowling an over. In section one New Brighton was a clear winner, while in section two Hornby had straight wins. Brighton batted first in the play-off and scored 49 runs from its five overs. lan Haughie scored 18 not out .■ and Roger Evans reached 13 ■ before he was bowled by Mike Worley. Hornby failed to reach this total, although Mark Lovegrove and Neville Shadwell certainly tried their best and Lovegrove was caught at 19 and Shadwell was undefeated on 15. GOLF A field of 106 competitors took part in the annual R.S.A. golf tournament in Hanmer Springs. Participants came from as far afield as Kaitaia and Port Chalmers, several of them regulars in the contest for more than 30 years. Results:—
