Bill Haley hit tops with Royal raver
NZPA-PA London The Queen likes the rock-and-roll hit “Rock Around The Clock” and enjoys jiving to it, a pop star, Phil Collins, has disclosed in a magazine interview. “She’s not a bad jiver as it goes,” said Collins, who. added that the Queen had often partnered Elton John in dancing to the Bill Haley classic. Buckingham Palace would not comment on the report yesterday. Collins tells how the Royal Family lets its hair down in “Insight” magazine. He said he saw the Queen jiving at Prince Charles’ fortieth birthday party. . “I saw the Queen dancing to ‘Rock Around The Clock.’ Our dear Queen jiving. It’s not the first time either. I was with Elton John and he said he usually dances with her on that song.” “I’ve got a lot of time for ’em, they’re very natural people. Princess Anne? Very natural. Charles is outspoken but that’s great. He’s going to inherit the country, so why shouldn’t he take an interest?” Elton John’s press officer, Ms Bernadette Coyle, said, “Elton would certainly not say anything publicly about the Royal Family.
