Lomax in multi-event
The defending New Zealand decathlon champion, Terry Lomax, has been , named in the Canterbury team for the national multi-event track and field, championships at Hastings on Saturday and Sunday. - He is joined in the decathlon by his Old Boys-United clubmate, Angus Ross. Another top Canterbury decathlete, Peter Henry, was not available for the team. Canterbury also has the defending champion in the women’s heptathlon, Leanne Stapylton-Smith, in its team. She will face strong competition from the two experienced Commonwealth Games representatives, Karen Forbes-Henry and Lyn Osmers, who are also in the Canterbury team. Joanne Henry, of South Canterbury has been chosen for the women’s under 20 heptathlon. . - .
