HAMISH HAY Mayor CHRISTCHURCH CITY DISTRICT NOXIOUS PLANTS AUTHORITY NOTIFICATION OF ADDITION OF CLASSIFIED NOXIOUS PLANT TO DISTRICT NOXIOUS PLANT - CONTROL PROGRAMME THE Noxious Plants Council has advised that the following plant has been declared a Class B Target Plant in the City of Christchurch from the February 3, 1989. The District Noxious Plants Control Programme is amended to include the following. Old Man’s Beard (Clematis Vitalba) Programme: Isolated plants. Trace vines back to roots and dig these out, remove any vines trailing along the ground, and destroy or cut vines as close to the roots as possible, and treat ends with herbicide in diesel. Re-growth treated- as above and new seedlings pulled out. Larger infestations. Use . herbicide sprays when plant is in full leaf over whole of foliage; where vine is growing up a tall tree cut vines at waist height or lower in winter, destroy cut vines, then spray the regrowth when it is well developed, deal with regrowth as above for Isolated plants; Control measures should be undertaken before January when seeds start to mature. Notification is given, under section 51 (2) of the Noxious Plants Act 1978, that occupiers of land within the district are required to eradicate the above noxious plant from their land. Further advice on control measures can be obtained from the noxious plants officer at the City Health Department, Civic Offices, 163 Tuam Street, telephone 791-660. J. H.
