Grant recommended for drug education dummy
A Christchurch City Council committee has recommended granting the Life Education Centre $30,000 for a mannikin. The grant would be used for a $lOO,OOO transparent anatomical mannikin, the finance and policy committee heard on Monday.
The mannikin would be
“a focal point in communicating our message to children on not polluting their bodies and its irreplaceable systems,” said the centre’s national director, Mr Trevor Grice.
Other local authorities would be approached for support, he said. The grant was recommended by the council’s
community advisor, Mr Alister Graham. It was intended the mannikin would be part of a static education centre in Christchurch to complement Life Education’s mobile education unit. Life Education was a non-religious, non-political organisation, said Mr Graham.
