Support group for industries
A new business grouping involving New Zealand service industries has been announced by the former Governor of the Reserve Bank, Sir Spencer Russell. Sir Spencer will head the group representing banking and financial services, broadcasting and telecommunications, computing, consultancy, edu-
cation, insurance, transport, and tourism. “The coalition has been formed to consider, analyse, and speak out on issues of concern to the service industries, and provide a co-ordinated input from the services sector,” he said. This would particularly involve an interest in C.E.R. and G.A.T.T. inter-
national trade negotiations, which have in recent years begun recognising the importance of the international trade in services. The Minister of External Relations arid Trade, Mr Moore, welcomed the formation of the group, saying the sector presented exciting growth prospects for the future.
