Pac Dunlop buy
Pacific Dunlop has announced it had reached agreement with Becton Dickinson Company in the United States to purchase its Edmont division, a major producer and marketer of industrial gloves. Edmont’s sales in 1988 were SUSI4I million. About 70 per cent of these were in the United States and Canada, and 30 per cent in Europe. Pacific Dunlop subsidiary, Ansell International, is a leading producer and
distributor of latex surgical gloves, medical examination gloves and household gloves. The purchase consideration is sAust2sB.2M (SUS22BM) and the acquisition is being funded by utilising cash reserves. Longer term financial structuring remains under consideration. The chairman of Pacific Dunlop, Sir Leslie Froggatt, said that Edmont and Ansell were a good fit.
