(Auckland). Weber had just pitched New Zealand out of a tight situation in which China had loaded the bases. New Zealand’s win avenged its 9-1 loss to
China in the semi-finals of the World Championships in 1986. Weber, Lesley Monk, Rhonda Hira and Natalie Hazelwood were later named in the tornament team while Weber picked
up the most valuable player award. Final placings were: New Zealand A 1, China 2, Australia Gold 3, U.S.A. 4, Canada 5, Australia Green 6, New Zealand B 7.
