More interest in beautifying Chch’s commercial premises

The increased interest in beautifying commercial premises, both in the inner city and suburbs, was encouraging, said the judges of the Christchurch Beautifying Association’s Summer Garden Competions. The judges said the standard of gardens and lawns had suffered generally from the effects of the prolonged dry weather, although this was not apparent in established trees. Where soil had been adequately prepared and maintained, the intensity of colour in brilliant bedding displays was a noteworthy feature. Results: Ruske Cup, the premier award: Mr and Mrs J.
