The outcome of a meeting between the Seamen’s Union and industry employers today will determine if widespread industrial action goes ahead npyt xuppk Fourteen days notice of industrial action was given by the union last week over the breakdown in award talks. The secretary of the union’s South Island branch, Mr Terry Stuart, said the employers had called a meeting in Wellington to renew award negotiations. “There are several large hurdles which will need to be overcome before agreement can be reached,” he said. The award for union members expired on November 30. Talks between the two parties broke down in midDecember. * (V
