Real estate chair
An American has been appointed to New Zealand’s first full university chair in real estate studies, at Lincoln College. Dr John Baen, an academic and a real estate broker, is expected to take up hist post as Professor of Real Estate, Valuation and Property Management at Lincoln College about mid-year. He was chosen from 12 applicants, from Britain, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. The chair is jointly funded by Lincoln College, the New Zealand Real Estate Institute, the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, and the New Zealand Institute of Property Management. Dr Baen, aged 40, is the assistant professor of real
estate at North Texas State University. He also runs a real estate investment and brokerage business with three offices in Texas.
