Mail to be released from Tui
Thirty-five tonnes of mail from the United Kingdom and northern Europe should be released after the lifting of the picket on the container ship Tui last Tuesday. New Zealand Post has been waiting to process the almost 3000 bags of mail since the ship berthed at Auckland on January 17. The mail will have to be unloaded from 12 containers and clear customs before being distributed. New Zealand Post estimates that letters and parcels addressed to up to 500,000 people and businesses may be in the containers, which were loaded in London, Hamburg and Rotterdam during December.
