Star Perth pacer destroyed
NZPA-AAP Perth The star West Australian pacer, Jay Bee’s Fella, was destroyed on Wednesday after suffering complications after an operation to a blocked colon. The Greg Harpertrained seven-year-old was operated on at the Murdoch University Veterinary School but it was decided to humanely destroy the winner of 22 races after it appeared he would not make a full recovery. Jay Bee’s Fella, which won sAust362,ooo in stake money throughout his 49race career, was a laststart failure behind Village Kid in the recent Fremantle Cup. The highlight of his brilliant career was winning the 1987 Red Lion Mile (1609 m in Auckland in a New Zealand record time of 1:56.8. He also scored two heat wins in last year’s Inter-Dominion series at Harold Park and was third behind Village Kid in the 1987 Miracle Mile.
