At the age of 82, Bill is still wild about jazz. “Wild Bill” Davison, one of the most prolific jazz cornet players, will perform once at the Parkroyal Hotel’s First Edition bar on Wednesday, February 15. Davison is a muchpraised jazz legend. Among comments about his work: he can make his horn wail and whimper, shout and pout, and whis-
per sweet and throaty nothings. After growing up in Defiance, Ohio, the cornetist became a founder of the classic “Chicago style” of jazz music, which developed during the 1920 s and 19305. He was a contemporary of such greats as Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke and Eddie Coridon. For 15 years, Davison
played in Condon’s famous New York bar. His work, alone and with others, has been recorded by 190 companies. He has appeared on 1104 releases, and is Inviting people to bring along their Davison albums for him to autograph. He will appear at the First Edition at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
