Bank celebrates opening
By SUZANNE KEEN Tellers at the Shirley Postßank were exchanging more than money when they opened the doors of their new-look bank yesterday. Account-holders were offered free tea, coffee, cake, pens and key rings while their children got sweets and balloons. There was the prize of a Postßank umbrella for the 150th customer and a travel bag for the 400th. A couple who have held an account at the bank for more than 50 years, Mr Ted and Mrs Jessie Prouting, cut the cake at the official opening. They described the new building as. “very elegant and up to the mark.” TJe manager of the Ljnwood area
branch, Mr Pat Sugrue, said 1 le move to a new location would solve t e problem of congestion that had ex ;ted when Postßank and New Zealand Post shared the same premises. The new location in Marshland Road was previously the site of a shoe shop. He said the new bank incorporated the latest in retail banking facilities and showed what the new era of customerconscious, economical, no-frills banking held for customers. The new Shirley premises come after improvements of the Bishopdale, Papanui and Upper Riccarton Postßanks. The grey and teal colours and the tui emblem will eventually identify all PostBanks.
