Tour ban for golfer
NZPA-AAP Melbourne A Canadian golfer, Kelly Murray, has been banned from the Australian professional golf tour. Murray was disqualified from the Victorian P.G.A. Championship last Friday for what officials described as a blatant breach of the rules of golf. He had admitted taking an unsupervised drop without telling his playing partners and then failing to include a penalty stroke in his score. Murray was reported by a group of golfers playing on an adjoining fairway. The P.G.A. tour operations director, Graham Nightingale, yesterday confirmed Murray’s invitation to play the Australian circuit had been withdrawn.
