Sir Robert

Sir, —Since 1984 New Zealand has lacked positive and responsible leadership. The present Labour Government, with all its good intentions, has been a dismal failure and everyone has suffered unnecessarily, almost beyond endurance. I agree with Mrs Hooper (January 21) and people in every walk of life who are convinced that if we are to survive Sir Robert Muldoon must be returned as leader of the National Party and Prime Minister of New Zealand. — Yours, etc.,

S. A. MEXTED. January 21, 1989.

Sir, —Like I. J. Cunningham, Mrs Hooper and many more people, from all walks of life, I know the true worth of Sir Robert Muldoon. Unfortunately,

one can not go back in time. When one is crucified by the likes of Bob Jones, stabbed in the back by people of his own party, untold damage is done. To repair it takes time, faith and trust. To show our gratitude to Sir Robert for all the good he did, I humbly suggest that we rally behind Mr Bolger, who is a family man of integrity. Sir Robert has not deserted his party, has he? A victorious general does not rush into the battle. He hand-picks his troops and delegates. His role is that of good planning and strategy.—Yours, etc., E. E. BELLFIELD. January 2t, 1989.
