Auckland Cup tough assignment —trainer

PA Auckland Patrick O’Reilly, jun. thinks it will be a tough assignment for Rostriever Hanover to win tomorrow night’s $400,000 Auckland Trotting Cup, even after the brilliant pacer scored a comfortable win at Alexandra Park yesterday afternoon. After a serious setback last month, O’Reilly says Rostriever Hanover has not had the hard racing to beat the likes of Luxury Liner in the 3200-metre cup race. “He is a month away from his best,” he said.

The Ashburton trainerdriver will post a training feat of note if his charge can win the cup. The gelding has only had four races since he suffered an infection in a hock which ruled him out of the New Zealand Cup.

While he may be not be at his peak, he still has to be a big threat to the prepost cup favourite, Luxury Liner.
