Electricorp to sell houses at L. Coleridge
By
HEATHER CHALMERS
Electricorp will sell 23 houses at Lake Coleridge village.
It hopes to sell the houses — on Acheron Avenue and Kowhai Drive — by March 31 next year when the transfer of State assets to Electricorp will take place. Electricorp viewed its future role at Coleridge as only the generation of electricity, said Mr David Bryce, the director of the planners Davie, LovellSmith. As a result it wished to divest itself of the' responsibility for maintenance, administration and development of Lake Coleridge village, he said. The existing streets of
Acheron Avenue, Kowhai Drive and Hummocks Road, along with a 2.40 ha reserve containing tennis courts, will be handed over to the Malvern County Council once negotiations are complete. The council will also take over the responsibility for water and sewage services. The village school site has been offered to the Education Board for purchase. Electricorp will continue to run the Post Office agency. The houses being sold were occupied by Electri-
corp staff based long-term at Coleridge and freeholding had been discussed for a number of years, Mr Bryce said. About 10 other houses in the village would be retained by Electricorp to accommodate more shortterm staff, he said. A further plan for Electricorp’s other houses, buildings, roads and reserves in the Harper Place area is expected to be submitted to the council for consideration. Further development of the balance of the land in the village would also be a possibility, Mr Bryce said.
