Earthquake aid

Sir, —The Minister of Foreign Affairs has stated that New Zealand does not have much money in the kitty for foreign assistance involving disasters. He was explaining the small amount of official aid for the Armenian

earthquake. As New Zealand is the world leader in research on earthquake-resistant concrete buildings, I would like to suggest that the Governmment obtain all the latest research data from the D.S.I.R. and make it available to the Soviet Union. This could be significant assistance when the rebuilding begins. — Yours, etc.,

M. A. RELLING. December 13, 1988.
