Israel Right rallies against U.S.-P.L.O. talks
NZPA-Reuter Jerusalem Hundreds of Israeli Rightists have staged a protest against American talks with the Palestine Liberation Organisation, amid a general strike by Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Clashes with soldiers throughout the occupied territories marked the
start on Saturday of the Palestinians’ three-day strike in protest at the killing of five Arabs by troops on Friday. Palestinian sources said troops shot and wounded at least 19 Arab protesters. Israel Radio said two Israelis and a Swiss tourist were hurt by stone-
throwing attacks in the West Bank. One of the injured, a nine-month-old baby, was reported in serious condition with concussion in a Jerusalem hospital.
At least 337 Arabs and 13 Jews have died in a year-old Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.
