Leadership decided next week
By
OLIVER RIDDELL
at Parliament The Prime Minister, Mr Lange, has had the looming vote on his leadership brought forward from February to 10 a.m. next Wednesday. A 10-minute caucus meeting yesterday agreed to bring a vote forward. “I moved a resolution at the caucus to bring forward the leadership vote required for next February and I explained the background to it,” Mr Lange said. The resolution had been passed without much dissent. No-one had spoken against it and it had been clearly passed, he said. “I will win the vote next week,” Mr Lange said. But he still expected his former Minister of Finance, Mr Roger Douglas, to stand against him. Prebbie, page 2 Further reports, page 8
