Nobilo leads field
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Auckland’s Frank Nobilo fired a sensational five-under-par 67 to jointly head the individual standings after the opening round of the SAustl million (SNZI.3 million) World Cup golf tournament at Royal Melbourne yesterday. Nobilo’s famed putting skills served him well as he tamed Royal Melbourne’s
treacherous greens and helped set the Kiwis up to challenge golfs leading nations in the remainder of this tournament. Nobilo’s partner, Greg Turner, returned an even par 72 to leave New Zealand with an aggregate score of five under 139 — equal with the United States and Spain, one stroke adrift of the first round leader. Jaoan.
