EXERCISE OF THE WEEK

Try this Jazzercise movement, demonstrated by Karen Tana, which is guaranteed to give your heart rate a boost.

LEFT: Angle your body to face the left front diagonal. Keep the left knee slightly bent as you extend your right leg forward to the floor in front of you. Push and extend your right arm directly forward near the chest or shoulder level; flex your hand. Your left hand may rest on the hip. Be sure to keep the torso lifted and tall. Incorporate additional energy into the exercise by slightly bouncing to the beat of the music with the support of that left leg in demi pile. RIGHT: Now, bend the right leg

and then extend it backward to the floor behind and slightly to the side of you in one smooth movement. Continue to bounce to the beat of the music throughout. As you are bending and extending the leg, also reverse the arm extension to follow the direction of the leg and foot. The combination of the arm and leg together really do the trick without a lot of impact. Repeat the movement about four to eight times and then reverse the movements to work the left arm and leg. Suggested Music: “Be There” by The Pointer Sisters.
