Sidford in golf team
Five members of last “ year’s successful Canterbury junior golf team have been included in the team of six to defend its South Island under 21 title at Greymouth on February 4 and 5. Those retained are Tony Christie, Lyndon Cron, Karl Mariu (all Waitikiri), Ken Collett (Christchurch) and Jason Sincock (Kaiapoi). The newcomer is Alastair Sidford (Harewood) who had a wonderful debut for the club in this year’s Woodward Cup competition.
The reserve is Andrew Hobbs (Templeton). The unlucky golfer to miss selection from last year’s winning combination was Matthew Brownlee (Waitikiri), who was one of 17 juniors named in a squad to prepare for the event in October. The team, as it was last year, will be coached and managed by Bob Pipe and Ray McLean.
