Coulson to train Speedy Cheval
Speedy Cheval, which disappointed former trainer, Peter Ryder, with his lack-lustre effort in last Monday’s Treuer Memorial at Bankstown, is to be trained in Perth by Phil Coulson. Coulson is best remembered in New Zealand as the trainer-reinsman of Junior’s Image, which was sensationally disqualified with a positive drugs return after winning the 1971 Inter-Dominion Pacers’ Grand Final at Addington Raceway. Speedy Cheval had been working better last week than in his lead-up to the Miracle Mile according to Ryder, but showed nothing on Monday, dropping out to finish last.
