Children’s canteens withdrawn
PA Auckland A big retail chain has temporarily withdrawn children’s drink canteens and jellybean containers because of complaints about a skull-and-cross-bones symbol. The spokesman for FTC Farmers, Mr Allan Russell, said the items were taken out of circulation after the company received complaints from customers worried that the skull-and-crossbones — the international symbol for poisons and piracy — was misleading.
He said customers were worried that children who drank out of the canteen and ate the jellybeans could eat or drink poisons with the same labels.
